The 59th Annual Texas Legislative Conference took place March 27-28, 2025, with over 350 attendees each day. Recognized as Texas’ premier policy and networking event, this gathering brought together state and industry leaders to discuss key legislative issues shaping our state. This year’s event was presented by NewQuest Properties and co-sponsored by Cemex, CenterPoint Energy, Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA), and SH 130 Concession Company.
The conference began on Thursday, March 27, with an evening reception honoring the 2025 Texan of the Year Chief Justice Nathan Hecht, the longest tenured Supreme Court Justice in Texas history. Attendees enjoyed a night of networking along with the award presentation honoring Chief Justice Hecht and the presentation of two scholarship awards.
On Friday, March 28, the half-day conference included an address by J. Bruce Bugg Jr. and three dynamic panels which covered some of the most pressing issues in Texas. The education panel explored the future of Texas schools, examining policies that aim to improve student outcome, and workforce readiness. The gaming policy panel unpacked the conversation around legalizing gaming in Texas and weighing the economic opportunities against regulatory challenges. Lastly, the infrastructure panel discussed the critical needs of Texas’ roads, water systems, and energy grid, while providing insights into how the state can sustain its rapid growth.
