This Weekend in New Braunfels we are getting ready for the holidays! Get ready to witness the magical sight of downtown New Braunfels coming alive with dazzling lights! On Friday, November 17, Santa will grace us with his presence, and the annual Downtown Lighting event will occur. This extraordinary event proudly showcases our downtown and is one of the most cherished events of the Downtown Association. The event will start at 6 p.m., and we will have pre-packaged snacks, snack boxes, hot chocolate, and water, all of which can be purchased. You can find us near the Bandstand on Main Plaza.
The Sophienburg’s first Weihnachtsmarkt Market was held in 1988. They only utilized the ballroom half of the Civic Center, but it was a rousing success. The market has grown and expanded through the years to become the top New Braunfels Christmas Market but still reflects the traditions of Christmas markets in Germany while staying true to the market’s mission of benefitting the Sophienburg Museum & Archives.
Their German Christmas Market features a variety of collectibles, ornaments, and more. Whether you’re looking for authentic German gifts or something with a Texas twist, you’ll find it at Weihnachtsmarkt! The Market opens on Thursday, November 16th!
