Texas Legislative Conference 2025: Big issues, bold conversations, and exclusive deals!

The 59th Annual Texas Legislative Conference is set to take place on March 27-28, 2025, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing the Lone Star State. Hosted in New Braunfels, this nonpartisan event offers valuable insight into Texas’ legislative landscape, with a focus this year on education, gaming policy, and infrastructure development.

Kicking off the conference, the Texan of the Year Reception will be held on Thursday, March 27, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. honoring Justice Nathan Hecht for his outstanding contributions to the state. The evening will include networking, open bar, hors d’oeuvres, photo opportunities, and the official presentation of the Texan of the Year Award.

The half-day conference on Friday, March 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., will feature an opening address by Chairman J. Bruce Bugg, Jr. of the Texas Transportation Commission. The conference panels include:

  • Exploring Challenges & Opportunities in Texas Education – A discussion on school funding, vouchers, and property tax relief, moderated by Matthew Watkins of The Texas Tribune. Panelists include Representative Brad Buckley, Marisa Perez-Diaz, Dan Huberty, and Bob Popinski.
  • The Future of Gaming in Texas: Policy, Possibility, and Impact – This panel will examine the growing conversation around gaming legislation, including sports betting, casino developments, and their economic implications. Moderated by Glenn Hamer of the Texas Association of Business, the discussion will feature Andy Abboud of Las Vegas Sands Corporation, with additional panelists to be announced.
  • Infrastructure for a Growing State – As Texas continues its rapid growth, experts will analyze the state's infrastructure needs, including transportation, energy, and water resources. Moderated by Jeremy Mazur of Texas 2036, panelists include Adriana Cruz of the Governor’s Office and Pablo Vegas of ERCOT.

To wrap up the event, attendees are invited to Polka and Politics at Krause’s, a casual networking event featuring beers and bites.
