About the offices of Bennie Bock:
387 West Mill, is a Commercial Building with rental space for two to four tenants, owned by the Bock Family whose ancestors came to New Braunfels in 1846. The Bock Family purchased the home in 2008 from the Marc Allen Family. Reclaimed bricks, repurposed wood flooring, old/new fachwerk, and the 1858 fireplace mantel complete the historic character of the new (2017) building.
Replacing a home originally built by the E. Scherff Family in 1907 that burned in March 2014, the new building captures much of the historic Mill Street architecture. The Scherffs were the original founders of Eiband & Fisher Department Store on Main Plaza—the first site of the Wurstfest. The 1907 home was then owned by the adopted daughter of the Scherff’s, Sophie Schuenemann. (b: Germany, 1867; d: New Braunfels, 1954) who ironically was the first cousin of Mina Schuenemann Bock, Bennie Bock’s great-grandmother. Current tenants are ASA Properties (Veramendi Developers), the First National Bank of Beeville (loan production office) and the companies of the Bock Family (SMC Enterprises, Pinwheel Ranch, Comal Properties, Inc., Bennie Bock Mediator & Attorney) with Mill Street Art Gallery opening soon.
