NBMA will be touring Regal Rexnord manufacturing on Tuesday during their February Meeting at 11:30 AM.
Regal Rexnord, a NBMA member, is a San Marcos manufacturer. Regal Rexnord is the manufacturer of flexible couplings (industrial driveshafts) used to transmit power and accommodate misalignment between stationary pieces of industrial equipment. They are a CNC machine shop primarily for machining steel. They do CNC turning and milling, gear cutting, and keyway cutting, and also do welding of driveshafts. Products they make range from under 2” in diameter to over 40”. Their product range is a mix of low volume/high mix products which include catalog standard, modified standard, and fully made-to-order products.
The tour will focus on Regal Rexnord’s version of Lean Manufacturing and their journey from discreet component machining cells to their “unit flow” cells which are set up to flow sellable products on very short start-to-finish lead times.
Regal Rexnord is very focused on safety. PPE required includes safety glasses, hand protection, and steel-toed shoes. Eye and hand protection can be provided. They have a limited supply of toe caps that they can provide but anyone who has their own steel toe shoes is encouraged to wear them. For those needing to borrow toe caps, open-toed shoes are not allowed. Also due to proximity to rotating equipment loose, flowing clothing and jewelry like long necklaces are not allowed.
