The Chamber Board of Directors convened on the afternoon of Monday, August 21 for their monthly meeting. The BOD received two presentations including a 90-day out preview for the November 2023 election and a water supply presentation from New Braunfels Utilities.
Alyssa Coker, VP of communications and government relations, opened the meeting with a 90-day November election preview. The presentation highlighted the 14 propositions that will be on the November ballot and the possibility of a VATRE (voter-approved tax ratification election) for New Braunfels ISD.
The second presentation came from Ryan Kelso, Interim CEO of NBU. Kelso's presentation centered on NBU's strategic approach to ensuring a sustainable and resilient water supply for the community.
Kelso began by addressing the current state of the water supply, highlighting the challenges posed by population growth, climate change, and evolving regulatory requirements. He then outlined NBU's multi-pronged strategy, which includes investment in water conservation initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and diversifying water sources.
