Friends of the New Braunfels Public Library is a non-profit organization formed for educational and literary purposes, primarily through support of the Library.
We promote knowledge of the functions, resources, services, and needs of the Library throughout the New Braunfels Community. Our primary mission is to provide resources that enable the New Braunfels Public Library (NBPL) to achieve excellence in its service to the New Braunfels Community. This excellence has been recognized by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association through its “Achievement of Excellence Award.”

About Friends of the New Braunfels Public Library:
Providing the means for NBPL excellence comes from various fund-raising projects: our annual book sale (Sept or Oct), and children’s book sale (June). Also, fund-raising occurs year-round through our Book Store (located in the Library) and online sales.
In 2017, FOL members contributed over 9000 volunteer hours to make all this happen — raising over $74,000 for library programs.
These efforts support programs that are not affordable with the available city funding. They include:
• early literacy programs
• database subscriptions
• New Braunfels historical reference materials
• children’s programs, such as book bags and 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
• teen programmings, such as including Anime and robotics
• adult programmings, such as book clubs, computer classes, fitness programs, guest speakers and a classic film series
• special events and performances for all ages
• summer reading programs for all ages
In 2018, our support for the Library includes raising funds for BrainFuse Module services that will enrich our community through readily available on-line help and tutoring primarily for elementary and secondary students, but for many other citizens as well (to include job search and military veterans’ modules). To make this happen, we need $10,000. And that’s the FOL’s goal for the Big Give San Antonio event, which runs from March 15 to March 22.
